We will never perfectly obey Him, while on this side of glory, but days by day, year by year, we come closer to being the Christian He wants us to be, as He lives in us, and gives us His strength. Where would we be, how could we ever live and get through life's trials without His presence? It's no wonder that the suicide rate is so high.
