Friday slowdown

As we noted yesterday, perhaps we should not ask why Sapphira and Ananias died, but we should ask why we are still alive?

It's by God's grace that we live and breathe, and by His love we are saved.

This old hymn may be so familiar that we don't truly listen any more. But if we sit quietly, and listen to each word, it is very meaningful.

This verse, in this version, is just as exultantly sung as I think John Newton, a believer and former slave trader, must have felt as he wrote it.

1. When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
   Bright shining as the sun,
   We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
   Than when we’d first begun.

And then the closing is reverent and still.

Tears come easily to me as I contemplate His love for me, a sinner. I was the reason He came. The reason He died. And praise Him, I'm also the reason He rose!! Undeserving as I am, He loved me.
