Prayer requests


Have we been praying about a request for some time? Have we become discouraged, wondering why God has not moved in the situation?

Often we think that the only "good" answer God can give our prayers is a "yes." We must remember that "no" is an answer, also. It is certainly a loving answer when we ask for things that are not really good for us, or that are not for His glory. God does not always give us what we want. He is a good parent, and does not always grant all our requests - we may not see the unintended consequences of our plea!

Are we praying for the health or healing of someone? Our Savior is still in the healing business, and in His time, He will answer. He is able to do what man may think is "impossible."
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20)
Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” (Luke 18:27)
Are we praying for the soul of a person close to us? Have we not yet seen any changes? God can work through our prayers and our witness to soften our loved one's heart. He can use our kind words to draw our acquaintance closer to Him. However, God gave us free will -- it we have not seen our prayers answered as we expected, it's not because God is ignoring our prayers! It may be that the person for whom we are praying hasn't responded yet....may be that Satan is fighting with all his might.
We cannot despair, and we must continue to pray. Our Lord is even more concerned for them than we are -- it's His will to help them:
This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:3-4)
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (II Peter 3:9)
Let's determine in our hearts to continue praying. To praise God for the answers we see, and to wait on His timing for those we've not yet seen.
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. (I John 5:14-15)
