Prayer requests


Today as we share prayer requests, praises, sorrows, concerns, and joys, let's kneel together before the cross of Christ Jesus.
Praying for others, as we do so often here, is the best way that I know to show we care for someone. That person can be halfway (or all the way) across the world from us, but when we pray, we offer that person our energy, our thoughts, and our heart. It's the best gift we can give anyone! We live in a sinful, stressful world where bad things can happen to people. People are tempted to sin. People are struck with illness. Praying for someone not only helps that person find God in the midst of their trouble; it also helps us to recognize the blessings we personally are given daily!

There are so many wonderful examples of prayer in God's Word. Some are longer; some are short. Some were offered up hurriedly, and others were offered in peaceful moments.

Paul prayed for the believers that he knew.
He prayed for them to have wisdom and power:
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, (Ephesians 1:18-20)
He also prayed for them to have strength, and for them to have the knowledge that God loved them:
 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19)
But I can't pray like that . . .
Don't worry about how your prayer is phrased!
Communicating with our Father God should be just like we would speak if we were talking to our family or friends. We can pray for others whenever we think of them, whether at work, at home, or in the car.
Prayer can be a part of our daily lives. We'll receive abundant blessings from it!
