There are many people today who try to remember to "pay it forward." It's become quite a phenomenon, with folks paying for the next person in line at the drive-thru, or helping someone cross the street, or paying for groceries for a mom with crying kids....
This is wonderful!
But it's not new, is it?
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. (Hebrews 13:16, NIV)
If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand. (Philippians 2:1-4, MSG)
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Luke 6:38, NIV)We have the best reason of all to show grace to others: He showed grace to us when we were still sinners. Let's not only show grace and treat others well . . . let's tell them why! Share the gospel every chance we get!
