Christmas is such a special time, on several levels.
There’s the superficial level of the hustle and bustle of
activities, choosing and wrapping gifts, attending services and parties, twinkling
lights, laughter, and the lovely smell of evergreen boughs.
There’s also a deeper level of thought. There’s quiet times,
introspection, and the inevitable question, “Why are we here?”
I believe the purpose of life is to be happy (not a momentary
high, but contentment) and to enjoy and glorify God, while telling others about Him.
In my own life, that happiness comes from following the
teachings of Jesus Christ, holding family close, and loving others more than
myself.
It’s not always easy.
But it’s worth it.
And Christmas weaves all of this together.
In the carols. In the candles. In the hugs.
