We are thinking about snow, and the concepts that we can learn from these frosty flakes.... there are treasures in the "treasury" of snow that the Father owns. Here is our verse in the NIV:
“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle? (Job 38:22-23)Vast accumulations of snow exist in various places on the earth's surface, but the fresh snow that falls is not taken from those areas; the new snow is generated by the vapors in the atmosphere being at just the correct temperature to make those beautiful snowflakes.
Remember when we talked about how each snowflake is different? No two are exactly alike.
And we are different, too!
We are different sizes, different shapes, different heritages. We have different needs, and also different desires.
Not one of us is exactly the same as any other human being on the earth!
We do have one thing in common, though, and that is the need for a Savior; we all need Jesus Christ.
But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me.You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay. (Psalm 40:17)
"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
We can be rich or poor, short or tall, super-brainy or not-so-smart; we can be famous or infamous or ordinary . . . . doesn't matter a bit! We all need Jesus!
The last thing to consider about snow is that it appears and then it disappears. Yep, just like the old song about Frosty the snowman, we know that the lovely snow won't last forever. My grandma used to say if the snow was still on the ground (even if it was small patches of it) after a week, it was "waiting for more" snow to fall. Sometimes it would happen, but not too often. Not here in the southland.
Anyway, just like the snow, we will be here for a while, and then gone!

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. (Proverbs 27:1)
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:13-15)
Our Savior spoke a parable that Luke retold in his gospel:
And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:16-21)
Jesus went on in the 12th chapter to say, "Do not worry," and "Do not be afraid." Those are wonderful words of comfort for us. It's a chapter worth reading while you hold a cup of steaming cocoa and watch the snow fall.....
You are absolutely right!! Such a very comforting chapter to read and take on board!
