Friday Slowdown

Every so often I post a Friday slowdown on this blog, and I hope that you will use it for meditation and refreshment. We just finished a study that mentioned quicksand, and as I wrote, I remembered this old hymn. Enjoy the words, and meditate on how our Father is worthy of our faith in Him . . . He will never fail us. His love and His mercy are infinite and unchanging!

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Have a blessed weekend!

  2. Wonderful. Thank you. One of my all time favourites! Have you noticed how much good theology there is in many of the old hymns?
