What are we listening to

Many times when we have this particular focus, we discuss what we will let in our ears. Good music, uplifting music, perhaps an audio file of the Word.

Have you ever turned it around, and thought about what we should NOT let in our ears?

....to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone....But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. (Titus 3:2,9)
Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. (II Timothy 2:23-24)
Don't listen to slander, or to foolish controversies and quarrels.
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices (Colossians 3:7-9)

Don't listen to filthy language or to lies.
A gossip betrays a confidence;    so avoid anyone who talks too much. (Proverbs 20:19)
Don't listen to gossip.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. (Ephesians 4:15)
Ahh, there's what we SHOULD allow into our ears! Truthful speech, and loving words!

What ARE we listening to, today?

  1. What could be better than these words!? It is a struggle for most mortals and certainly for me as things I am aware of as wrong pop to mind. Sometimes I am able to stop it before it starts. Criticisms and so on. And not listening to wrong things? Generally I have managed to stop those from entering my ears if I am in control of leaving the presence of where they are uttered. Thank you for an always timely content.
