What are we listening to?

We've talked before about how music can lift us up and encourage us. It can also calm us. The human mind is soothed by music, and it can help us to be quiet and wait for the Lord.

In II Kings, Elisha knew the calming power of  music:

Now bring me someone who can play the harp." While the harp was
being played, the power of the LORD came upon Elisha, (II Kings 3:15)

The harp is quite different from the jubilant sounds of cymbals and drums that are referred to in other passages.

Do you need to quiet your heart today? Is it hard to tune out the stresses and problems of this world? To focus on Him? Choose a soft and quiet hymn that will direct your thoughts to the Lord.

What are you listening to, today?
