Prayer requests

It's ironic.

We all know now what those are, pictured above. Words like coronavirus, pandemic, and more have become commonplace.

How are you doing? How are you feeling?

I don't mean do you have a temperature. Although that is important.

I mean do you feel calm? Assured? Comforted? Anxious? Frantic? Uneasy?

However we are feeling today, it's OK.

We will get through. From people in Italy singing on their balconies, to others in churches around the globe lifting their hearts and hands in prayer. From those who have put more emphasis on exercising and staying healthy, to those who have made sure that the vulnerable are cared for. Some of us have experienced grief as our loved ones have died and we've not even been able to hold their hand as they slipped into God's presence.

But we will get through.

And it won't be just because human beings are so awesome, although we are endowed by our Creator with incredible resiliency and determination and love.

It will be because we have NOT been abandoned.

What do I mean?

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging. (Psalm 46:1-3)

So, even if it feels like the ground beneath our feet is about ready to give way, we have not been abandoned. We are not alone.

For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our guide even to the end. (Psalm 48:14)

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:20b)

He is with us.

And we will get through this. All glory to Him!
