Verses that inspire

Today is Election Day here in the United States.

Even if you don't live here in this country, you've probably heard about all the controversy, scandals, insults, and mud-slinging.

Those of us who live here should give serious thought and much prayer to our choice.

And no matter where we live, we need to be a people of prayer for those who lead our nations:
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—  for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior,  who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:1-4)

He will hear us:
Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.  Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name. (Daniel 9:18-19)

And He will have mercy. Praise Him!

  1. This seems to go along with all the election mud slinging. We’ve seen much of the mud slinging and name calling in your country’s election up here in Canada.

    3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
    O Lord, who could stand?
    4 But with you there is forgiveness,
    that you may be feared.
    5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
    and in his word I hope;

  2. OH yes. My first thing after learning the news was prayer for both the current person and the upcoming one. ND MOST OF ALL FOR THIS COUNTRY! May we be led back to where we belong with God as our Spiritual Leader. I can pray at least for this for the Country..
