Proverbs 11: 29

The wind. Do you like it? I don't at all. Well, except for one that blows in a good thunderstorm. But for the most part wind is annoying. I have always had ear problems and that wind whipping around my ears just annoys me to no end. I could go on about it's annoyances to me. But lets think about the characteristics of wind.

What does it look like?
Smell like?
Taste like?
hmmm---we've pretty much come up empty here.

Stirring up trouble within your family (personal family or church family) will leave you with...NOTHING but an annoyance.

As for the second half of the verse...the 'fool' talked about here is the person who refuses to accept Christ. Please take a few moments to read Revelation 20:1-6. If these verses confuse you, please feel free to ask questions. But, basically it is just how our verse in Proverbs says, "The foolish will be servant to the wisehearted."

I am not trying to start a discussion on the end times (maybe someday!); however this is a good illustration of what the author of Proverbs is trying to say to us.

  1. Family is so important, the older and wiser I get, the more important family becomes.

  2. Ok, first I have to be honest and say I kinda like the wind. (When it's not a tornado or a hurricane. *grin*) But, you can't grasp it, touch it, own it, do anything with it. So, it's nothing in your hands.

I have to also be honest and say I don't see how the Revelation verses go with this. Could someone point out the parallel?

  3. I went to my husband before I posted just to make sure that I am not completely off the wall! He verified that I am not too crazy. LOL

When the verses said that the Foolish (meaning those that don't accept Christ) will become servants of the wise (the wise are those that do accept Christ) I couldn't help but think of the verses in Revelation.

    Looking at verse 6:
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

Those that share in the first resurrection are the NOW Christians. The NOW wise. And will reign during that 1000 years over the ones that refused to accept Christ now.

This is not totally what this verse in Proverbs is pointing at. It is an example of a time that the foolish will be an example to the wise. I was just trying to point to an example.

LOL Jerry said to make sure I point out that it is ONLY an example. I guess I didn't do that well enough. :)

He also said to point out that this is not a verse about the end times because that would start a whole 'nother discussion. *grin* Consider it now pointed out.

Thanks for asking Belinda. Hope I am more clear this morning.

  5. Great example on that passage. I, too, find that family means more to me now than perhaps it used to. How sad that some people really do like to "stir the pot" whether it is family, or church, or a quilt guild. That is not something I enjoy - I guess I'm speaking from my own experience; I like peaceful fellowship! Hopefully I can be more like a pleasant breeze than an "ill wind" in my relationships!
